Future Dad to Future Kids

I wrote this silly verse as a 20-year-old missionary serving God’s children in Africa

Dear Children;

I know that I don’t know you yet,
But I’m dropping you a line
Just to tell you how I am
And what is on my mind.

These words will be so simple,
They’re the best that I can do;
I hope you will appreciate
The thoughts I share with you.

You’re living with our Father now,
You’re valiant, strong, and pure;
You’ll need that strength in earthly life
Where footing isn’t sure.

I’m working now to build the man
That you are going to need,
To bring you up in righteousness,
To love, to guide, to lead.

I guess I’ll see you later, kids;
I’ve got so much to do;
Throughout your lives I hope to be
A model, then, for you.

Love, Dad.

P.S. In case you think us Dads are great,
That ain’t so awfully true;
My Daddy gave this nose to me,
You’ll get the fellah too!
