The Motorpool of God

The second coming was nigh at hand
At the motorpool of God,
When the chariot of fire blew a tire
And threw a golden rod.

The angels knew the time had come;
They knew that, come what may,
They must provide a suitable ride
Or there’d be Hell to pay.

They hunted down the finest cars,
A chrome and steel safari;
They bagged a Jag, they net a Vette,
And captured a Ferrarri!

They included in Mercedes Benz,
And the partners Rolls and Royce;
A Coupe DeVille and others still,
The Lord would have His choice.

Which grand car would be the star
To shimmer through the skies?
They heard His voice declare His choice,
Imagine their surprise;

“I GLORIOUSLY GO TO EARTH BELOW”,
(His voice rang loud and deep),
“THE WORLD IS ROUGH, THE JOURNEY TOUGH,
SO BRING TO ME MY JEEP!”
