The Quest For Offence

The whole damn world’s offended
By something someone said;
Or by something they didn’t say,
Or something else instead.

We gasp and groan, we cry and moan,
We clutch our wounded breast
At what was said in innocence,
In ignorance, or jest.

We search for sin with skin so thin,
But pain is self-applied
When we choose that we’ll infer
What never was implied.
