This Little Angel

Poem given to my perfectionist/high acheiver young daughter, Jillian, along with a raggedy angel doll.

This little angel is not made of silk,
Her halo is not made of gold;
Her clothes are quite common, her face is so plain,
And that’s where the story is told.

This little angel was never the queen
Of a kingdom or even a school;
But others felt royal when she was around,
Her faithfulness shone like a jewel.

This little angel with patch on her wing
Shows no one’s immune from a fall;
And God will accept us and help us to mend,
Much like this raggedy doll.

This little angel is my gift to you
With hope that, sweet daughter, you’ll see
You needn’t perfection in all that you do
To be such an angel to me.
