Today As I Ride Solo

‘Used to be so easy
To mount up all alone
And chase the far horizon
And seldom think of home.

The solitude was tonic
To the worn and weary soul,
As the taste of God’s creations
Left the loner feeling whole.

But today as I ride solo
Feelings change from what they were;
Still enraptured by the beauty,
I’m reminded now of her.

How I long to have her with me,
As my joy is now impaired;
For I’ve learned there’s no fulfillment
Like the joy of beauty shared.
